On-line Form TM6

Request to receive notification of conflicting later filed marks (OPT-IN)

This form is for owners (or their representatives) of Community Trade Marks and International Trade Marks designating (covering) the European Community to OPT-IN to receive notification of any later filed conflicting trade mark applications.

The fee is GBP £50 per mark and will be valid for a period of 3 years.

Important notice

Following a change to the law, IPO's optional notification service for owners of Community and International (EU) trade mark registrations will be discontinued with effect from 1 October 2012. From that date, the form TM6 will no longer be available on the IPO website, and notifications will no longer be sent out to those trade mark owners who have previously opted into the service. Details of the public consultation and IPO's response are available.

Please note that the automatic notification service for owners of UK and International (UK) registered trade marks is unaffected by this change, and will continue to be provided.

Renewal

The notification system was introduced in October 2007, which means that marks opted-in to receive notifications are due to start reaching their expiry date. Any mark which reaches the 3 year period will be automatically opted-out.

It is possible to renew the opt-in at any time. The 3 year period does not need to have expired. If you wish to renew any mark, you should complete the TM6 and indicate which trade mark number(s) you would like to opt-in. You will be charged £50 for each mark.

Availability

The full service will usually be available between 03:15 and 00:15 UK time.
