Supplementary protection certificates
A suplementary protection certificate (SPC) is a special form of intellectual property (IP) that extends the protection of a patented active ingredient or combination of active ingredients present in a pharmaceutical or plant protection product after the expiry of the patent.
Searching our records
You can search our records by SPC number or patent number to identify granted SPCs or patents for which SPCs have been granted.
Objecting
You can make third party observations on a SPC application in the same way that you do for a patent application.
You
can request that a granted SPC is declared invalid or has lapsed, by sending
us form SP3
