What happens next?
We will process your application to consider restoration of registered designs and give notice of the application in the Designs Journal.
If we are satisfied that failure to pay the renewal fee was unintentional, we will write to tell you and ask you to send us:
- Form DF9A - Application to extent the period of protection and
- The correct renewal fee
Once we receive your forms and fees, we will restore your design to the register and publish that fact in the Designs Journal.
If we are not satisfied that your failure to renew was unintentional, we will:
- write and explain why we have not accepted your reasons; and
- allow you 2 months to request a hearing.
If you do not request a hearing within 2 months, we will refuse your application and publish that fact in the Designs Journal.
