How to apply: Registering your Design

You can apply for Registered Design protection by filling out the appropriate application form and paying the relevant fee. How much does it cost?

Design application form DF2A PDF document(20Kb)

This is the most commonly used form. It is essential that you refer to DF2A notes PDF document(26Kb) and the 'How to apply to register a design' booklet PDF document(1.37Mb) for instructions on how to complete the form.

Surplus design application form DF2B PDF document(22Kb)

Use this form if we have asked you to divide out a design from an earlier application.

Refer to DF2A PDF document(26Kb) and DF2B notes PDF document(26Kb) for guidance on how to complete the form, and also the 'How to apply to register a design' booklet PDF document(1.37Mb) for instructions on filling out the form.

Please note you will need to send new copies of your representations for any designs on the DF2B and the design remaining on the original application.

Send us your application

Please send your application to our address below. You must include your completed DF2A and fee sheet forms, one copy of the illustrations of your design, and your fee. It is not advised to fax design applications as the loss of detail on your representations may affect the amount of protection you have, and you may lose your filing date if we have to ask for better images.
