Annual IP Crime Report

The IP Crime Report is produced by the IP Crime Group which was founded in 2004 by the Intellectual Property Office. The Group brings together experts from industry groups, enforcement agencies and government to work in collaboration on the issues relating to IP crime.

The report contains statistical data and enforcement activities from enforcement agencies such as trading standards, police and HM Revenue & Customs along with industry bodies.

The 2010/11 IP Crime Report PDF document(3.12Mb) was launched on 9 August 2011. The report highlighted current and emerging threats surrounding counterfeiting and piracy, especially those conducted via the internet. The report also raises awareness around the diverse nature of fake goods especially those with a direct effect on consumer harm.

We are now in the process of drafting the report for the financial period 1 April 2011 - 31 March 2012. As part of the process we have issued a survey to be completed by the Trading Standards Institutes around the UK. This will provide us with important information about the work they have done over the past year in dealing with IP Crime.

The previous IP Crime Report 2009/10 PDF document(2.2Mb) examined the threat posed to businesses and individuals by IP crime and highlights examples of successes in combating it.

Earlier editions include Annual IP crime reports for 2009/10 PDF document(2.2Mb), 2008/09 PDF document(1.83Mb), 2007 PDF document(2.12Mb), Annual Enforcement Report 2005 PDF document(715Kb) published alongside the annexes PDF document(2.23Mb) and Annual Enforcement Report 2004 PDF document(745Kb).
