Prevention and Cure: The UK IP Crime Strategy 2011
The
new UK IP Crime Strategy 2011
(413Kb) was launched on 3 August 2011. This is a cross Government Strategy which sets out the framework for UK action
for tackling IP crime, including roles and responsibilities in delivering it
and some new area for action.
The UK IP Crime Strategy 2011 focuses on:
- developing cost-effective, evidence-led and credible measurements of IP crime and its impact
- engaging and co-ordinating resources concerned with IP crime
- seeking more efficient and effective means of working together and working more smartly
- building with industry better and more sophisticated preventive measures aimed not just at prosecution, but disrupting the means by which criminals commit and benefit from IP crime, leading to a reduction in harm
- integrated IP crime enforcement with other areas of criminality, contribution and benefitting from best practice and specifically engage with Organised Crime Mapping techniques
- continuing the excellent work at international levels to enhance legitimate trade and disrupt illegal conduct
The
new Strategy builds on the first National IP Crime Strategy
(260Kb), launched in 2004, and
prepares for developments in legislation, technology and responses across the public, commerce, government
and law enforcement.
Intellectual Property Crime Group
Founded in 2004, the Intellectual Property Office set up this specialist team consolidating resources to specifically discuss strategic policy issues, raise awareness of IP crime, identify and disseminate best practice, and co-ordinate enforcement activities.
Annual IP Crime Report
The
IP Crime Group publish an Annual IP Crime Report, reviewing our
progress by highlighting the range of activities being undertaken to combat this crime.
The
new IP Crime Report for 2010/11
