Patent Office engages in further consultation on the future of examination of trade marks on relative grounds
The Patent Office is seeking the views of businesses on the order and rules which will bring into effect the new regime for examination of trade marks on relative grounds. This follows a consultation earlier this year on the options for a future system, the outcome of which was to move to a notification system whereby the Registrar will (after conducting a search) notify the trade mark applicant and the owner of any earlier marks about any potential conflicts.
